What files you can upload
Last updated September 2026
DungeonStock sells content, not code: maps, tokens, audio, PDFs, 3D models and VTT data. We check every upload before buyers can download it.
Content you can upload
Images (PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF), video (MP4, WebM), audio (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC), PDFs, DOCX and EPUB, 3D models (STL, OBJ, FBX, GLB/GLTF, 3MF, .blend), VTT exports (Dungeondraft, Dungeon Alchemist, Universal VTT), source art (PSD, AI, Krita), and ZIP archives of these.
What counts as code
These file types are refused anywhere — on their own or inside a ZIP: programs and installers (.exe, .msi, .dmg, .app, .apk, .deb, .rpm, .appimage, .iso, .img), libraries and native plug-ins (.dll, .so, .dylib, .node, .bin, .bundle, .framework, .xcframework, .plugin, .aar, .jslib, .jspre), scripts (.bat, .cmd, .ps1, .vbs, .sh, .py, .rb, .pl, .php, .lua, .js, .ts, .cs, .jar, .rsp and similar), web pages and SVG (.html, .htm, .svg — SVG can carry scripts; upload PNG or WebP instead), macro-capable Office files (.docm, .xlsm, .pptm and older .doc, .xls, .ppt — .docx is fine), and shortcuts (.lnk, .url, .desktop, .webloc).
The one exception is JavaScript inside a Foundry VTT module, which goes to an admin for review instead — see Foundry VTT modules below.
We check every extension in a name, so map.png.exe is refused too — and every folder in a path, so an app bundle like Game.app/Contents/MacOS/Game is refused as well. A file that is a program (Windows, Linux or macOS) is refused whatever its extension says.
Archives
- ZIP only. RAR and 7z aren't supported — re-save as .zip.
- No passwords. We can't check inside a password-protected file, so it's refused.
- No archives inside archives. A ZIP can't contain another archive (.zip, .rar, .7z, .tar, .gz, .unitypackage and similar), even one renamed to a different extension. Unpack inner archives into the main ZIP.
- Keep it to at most 20,000 files, and at most 200 files with unusual extensions we have to look inside to identify.
- Use normal folder paths — no links, and no
..paths that point outside the ZIP. - DOCX, EPUB and 3MF files are ZIPs inside, so they get the same checks: no programs, scripts, passwords or archives inside them. (EPUB chapters are XHTML, which is fine there.)
Blender files
.blend files are welcome as long as they contain no embedded scripts (Text data-blocks). To remove them: open the Scripting workspace, unlink each text in the Text Editor, then File → Clean Up → Purge Unused Data, and save. Rigify rigs include a rig_ui.py text — remove it or export FBX/GLB instead.
Unity packages
.unitypackage files can contain models, textures, materials and prefabs, but no scripts or compiled code (.cs, .js, .dll, native plug-ins such as .bundle folders or .a libraries, or any other file type listed under What counts as code). Unreal .uasset/.upk files can't be checked, so upload FBX, GLB or OBJ.
Foundry VTT modules
Modules made of module.json (or a game system's system.json / a world's world.json), images, audio and compendium packs (including Adventure compendiums) are published straight away.
If your module includes scripts (for example a Scene Packer stub), an admin reviews them before buyers can download it — usually within a few days. Every new version is reviewed again.
Leave manifest and download in module.json blank. We check every manifest in the ZIP, in any folder. Links pointing to another server are held for review, because Foundry would offer buyers updates from there instead of DungeonStock.
Replacing a file
A new version goes through the same checks. Your current version stays live until the new one passes (or is approved). If an earlier version of a file was taken down, a replacement always waits for an admin to review it before buyers get it.
If a file is refused
Open the file in your asset library (Dashboard → Assets): the reason is shown there, with a link back to this page. ZIPs are also checked in your browser before the upload starts, so many problems show up straight away. Fix the issue and upload again. If we couldn't finish checking a file, upload it again. If that keeps happening, contact support.
If a file that's already on sale turns out to break these rules, we can take it down. Buyers can't download a file while it's taken down.
Still stuck? Contact support.
